Still till now Celeron and Dual Core procesors beeing made and has better results in tests
Core 2 Duo last of all made in September 2009 and its Core 2 Duo SU7300 and its rating is below 1000 Passmark CPU test
Latest Core 2 Solo is SU3500 pass 501 made in Q2 2009
Latest Core 2 Duo Intel Core2 Duo T6670 @ 2.20GHz pass 1438 made in Q3, 2009 price
The latest fastest of Core 2 Duo is Intel Core2 Duo T9900 @ 3.06GHz pass 2301 BUT made earliery in April 28, 2009

ok so with theese ideas i think Core 2 Duo flops and Dual Core Tops..

Cheapest laptop ive found searching with at least DDR3-1333 and HDD RPM 7200 is DELL LATITUDE 13 with Intel SU7300 @ 1.30GHz pass 972 so is pass for one core or for both?

The later Pentium and Celerons are just marketing names and are actually based on exactly the same silicon as the C2D.

The SU7300 is a low power model clocked at 1.3 ghz. That is probably the slowest CPU you can find on the market right now, apart from the Atoms.

I'd be really, really wary about basing performance from passmark. Its not a bad tool, but its got at least minor flaws, like the T4400/T4500 being rated higher than a T7300. Same basic architecture, T4XXX is 1MB cache, 800MHz FSB, T7300 3MB cache, 800MHz FSB. The T7300 should be at least as fast as the T4400/T4500.

You'd do better looking for a laptop that does in general what you want, rather than looking for 7200 RPM HDDs or DDR3. A good 5400 RPM HDD can be faster than a 7200, and use less power....DDR3 is nice, but it wont make much impact at all for desktop use (it will for gaming, but if your after gaming, get a desktop).

*censored* *censored* intel and the *censored* *censored* naming scheme they have. Just another reason why I dont normally buy intel (the 'we've had socket X for 1 year so its time to change to socket y' is another).

Yes thats the strange thing- thats why i wanted to get answer and was asking is CPU pass for one core or for both this pass number in cpu tests?
Thats what ive found that Core 2 Duo like T7300 are slower then just Dual Core like T4500 and they are older and not beeing produced as oposite to Dual Cores..

I just want when i need HDD to work fast that its working fast and when i need fast FF to open then it does that. And sometimes some Ubuntu programming programm.
Last 3 days ive looked a lot and know about buying laptop very important info.
U can overpay 200$ just for 1 GB more and u can overpay 200$ for 2x badder CPU

Yeah Atoms in CPU pass is about 500 so im not thinking about them..

Also today tested Live CD UBUntu on one friends Dell D610 and in shop on Some 2 new laptops with t4500 and i didnt see any difference on any of them..

Passmark would be multicore. I have no idea about what they are actually testing (if its just an artifical test, or if its using some 'real world' stuff as well).

To spell it out- the T4400, T4500 and T7300 are ALL 'Core 2 Duo'. So how a T4400/4500 with far less cache can benchmark better isnt obvious. Its probable that they have benchmarked laptops, and differences between the laptops is what is showing up, not differences in CPU processing power.

Just saying '7200RPM HDD' doesnt make it automatically faster than a 5400 RPM HDD. Different interfaces, data density, chipset, cache will imapct on various tests (and if the T7300 was a 'low end' model and the T4400/4500s more 'high end' it could explain how they benchamrked better)

If your 'badder CPU' is based on what your seeing with passmark, then you could be misled (the T4400/4500 vs T7300 makes that pretty clear to me).

Also, if you just look at CPU/HDD/RAM you wont get the 'whole picture' with laptops. The more expensive models could have better batteries, better build quality, better chipsets, better GPUs, better HDDs, etc..
