Screen resolution on Toshiba Portégé 7100

Hi, I just upgraded a laptop named Toshiba Portégé 7100 series from XUbuntu 6.06 to XUbuntu 10.04. The system appears to work well apart from the screen resolution that can not be set above 800x600, whilst the laptop is built for 1024x768. Prior to the new installation, the full resolution was being used.

Any tips? Can I adjust this by hand in some configuration file?

    TIA.

I found a working solution in this thread:

I followed the trick of creating a /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.
