YES! They have been great to me since July 2008, and now I've taken the plunge and gone to the paid hosting, but after so many websites over the years, I can't remember what I wanted to do in the first place anymore. At least they only cost me $25 for three months to keep me online, but if you want to be dynamic, give 000webhost.com a try. They're a very professional outfit.
The code is free but the data is priceless.
Also like to mention:
http://www.hosting24.com
The paid version of the already great free hosting from 000webhost.
I suppose it's also worth asking whether you want a VPS or Webhosting as discussed above.
It's probably worth looking into, though you would have to setup/manage it all yourself as well I suppose
I think HostGator and 1and1 have already been mentioned, but I use both of these and have had no problems. Or go for the gold and grab a VPS from Linode.
ooh, 1and1 actually looks good, since it has git.
the last one I used that had some form of vcs was dreamhost, and they were horribly slow...
now, just to wait for HE Hosted DNS to come back online and im set. (not really, since I have to redo my site...)

The Admin is really Cute!
I use 0000free for my hosting. They're a great webhost and the price is really attractive.
You get PHP, Perl/CGI, ASP.NET, X/HTML, all of the different CMSes (minus Joomla due to security concerns regarding that CMS,) cPanel X (with a beautiful theme) and so much bandwidth (10GB for free basic, 20GB for free advanced) without paying a thing. They're experiencing a DDOS attack on their newest server, Apex, right now though, so new registrations are seldom accepted until their Sysop fixes it.
No longer active here.
