Question Suddenly, numbers on numpad part of Logitech keyboard no longer work...

    Hi!

Quick intro, running Ubuntu Maverick on a desktop. I recently invested in a new Logitech keyboard, very basic, black, flat profile job. Lovely little keyboard.

All has been working fine until around 5 days ago when suddenly the numbers on the numpad part of the keyboard no longer respond. Oddly, the other keys on the numpad (Home, End, Page Down/Up, maths keys) all work fine, but not the numbers. IN FACT, what happens is this:

Pressing 9/PgUp repeatedly nudges my mouse pointer up-right, pressing 8 nudges it up, 7/Home nudges it up-left and so on.

    Really, really odd.

    How can I fix this?

Sounds like the numlock is off cos that is how my keyboard reacts with numlock off... no numbers but other functions. Hit numlock then I get numbers & not other functions.
Button could be stuck or faulty ?

Well, I did wonder that, but pressing the numlock at least switches the NumLock LED on and off, so that is at least registering.

switches the NumLock LED on and off,
That function will be purely within the keyboard. Maybe a wire in keyboard matrix is broken causing numlock to not turn on.

Suggest trying it on another machine, to help asses weather it is OS or keyboard. Can you try it with Windows on notepad ??

This is NOT a keyboard problem. I have the same issue on my two, entirely independent Ubuntu computers. I have tried several keyboards both English and French which all work perfectly EXCEPT for the number pad.

    I haven't found a solution yet!
