keybord key does nothing

how can i make my key on my keyboard with the windows logo do something. can i make a way to say have it open the app menu or open the terminal?

If you go into System > Preferences > Keyboard shortcuts, you can assign that button to do what ever you want. I often will do something similar to a windows machine. windows key + d to show desktop, windows + R to open terminal..etc.
