Hello all. I was told the Ubuntu community is a very informative and friendly forum. So here I am with a great deal of enthusiasm. I have decided to make the plunge (kind of) and run Ubuntu 10.10 on my Mac through vmware fusion. I am not a computer boob, but I was wonder what I could do with Linux to make it stand out from Macs and Windows OS. You know, some kinda cool stuff. I like my Mac for the fact that it runs VERY well and I dual boot windows to play some of the more popular games.
In the future I plan on creating a couple of servers using a distro of Linux if possible. Possibly through vmware so I can maintain a bunch of data, stream videos, and maybe some other functions. Pretty much a home rig so I can better my *nix knowledge. I'm a sys admin so I'm not totally in the dark. So, what kind of tips can you give me? Essential mods/software?
