no portable hard drive?
Hello I installed Ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition on my acer netbook and if i plug in my external hard drive it does not open and does not show up anywhere.
if i run nautilus I can''t find it and if i run df it does not show up I am not sure ehat the deal is.
Any help would be nice thanks.

I am having the same problem. When I open disk utility, it sees it, but I cannot access it. Anyone figure this out as of yet?

Found it! Open File Manager, plug in your External Hard Drive and you've got it all right there. Good luck!

Hi ,
I have the same problem as stated above.
My Seagate portable harddisk is not showing up anywhere except at the disk utility.
I'm using ubuntu 10.04.
When i run nautilus in terminal a file browser window opens but i still not able to find the hard disk.
Can any 1 correct me if i'm wrong.
Kindly direct me to the correct method of opening the harddisk.

I gave up on using ubuntu 10.04 netbook I just waited for 10.10 to come out my harddrive is working now. You should just upgrade to the newest release.
