Elantech Touchpad problem in Lenovo G460

    Hi,

I am having issues in using the touchpad of my Lenovo G460. When I try to move the cursor using the touchpad it moves it in some other direction. Also the touchpad buttons hardly work. And worse, using the touchpad also crashes the comp with the only option of restarting the system. I looked up on Google and tried different things around but nothing seems to work. Hence this post. Any help to solve this issue would be appreciated.

Here are some of my system details:

    $ xinput -list
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
    ⎜ ↳ USB Optical Mouse id=10 [slave pointer (2)]
    ⎜ ↳ ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad id=13 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ Macintosh mouse button emulation id=14 [slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Power Button id=6 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Video Bus id=7 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Power Button id=8 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Sleep Button id=9 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ Lenovo EasyCamera id=11 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=12 [slave keyboard (3)]

I am running on Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) and currently using the Linux kernel 2.6.32-25. Also as you can see from above, Lenovo G460 uses the ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Aravind
