    No sound in Maverick after installing Flash player

    I fresh installed Maverick and had sound for buttons and Rythymbox.
    After installing flash all sound is gone.I have checked most of the suggested possible causes but have not come up with the reason for this.

    That seems like a nasty bug in that script, if thats what removed alsa.

    Id just try try reinstalling alsa;

    The script tried updating it to the same version you already had, so dont bother trying that again and perhaps report the bug to the author.

    those '/proc/asound'folders arent folders on your harddrive. They are running processes (in linux, everything is a file). So if your soundcard isnt detected or enabled, those folders wont be there, even if alsa is installed.

    Now Im not exactly an alsa expert, but can you post the output of

    I ve got a similar problem-no sound, but I dont know why-I had sound for over a week after upgrade to 10.10, then suddenly lost it.

    I ve altered every setting but still nothing.

    Maveric recognises my usb speakers and XP plays sound through them, but Maverick hasnt for 3 days!

    I m at a total loss

    Pretty much the same story as me.I think installing Flash Player started my problems and I had the same problem with Lucid recently after a kernal update.
    That prompted me to install Maverick

    When I 'sudo modprobe snd-' and hit Tab then Enter I get:

    'FATAL: Module snd_ not found.'
