I picked Gnome
Through the years I have tried every Linux distribution and have used whatever window manager that distribution did better. I like both Gnome and KDE, but I find Gnome easier to use( maybe because it was the first one I got used to). I actually originally liked the look of KDE better.
In the past I have tried to completely switch over to Linux and get rid of any Windows systems, but I have always had some reason to go back to my WinXP system.
In the past year it seems as if Linux desktop and it's applications may now have come to a maturity point where I can use it for everything I need. And Ubuntu 10.04 was the version that I finally moved completely away from Windows, and the windows manager for that was/is Gnome. So, because of the satisfaction I got from the switching completely with Ubuntu and Gnome, I chose Gnome!
Gnome, because it is a familiar and intuitive DE. I tried Fluxbox and awesomeWM a while back and wasn't quite ready for it at the time. I just find that I get along better with Gnome and my time is better spent debugging other things (or you know.... being productive).

I like Gnome because I find it more efficient.
I also moved from windows to Linux via Ubuntu 7.04 with Gnome.
And it was an easy transition from windows to Ubuntu.
