Re: New music player - Exaile!

    Greetings all,

I've been wondering why on earth, with all the traffic this thread has generated, it hasn't been granted 3rd party project status.

While I'm at it, I've only been using Exaile for two days, and love it. Although it does odd things with two disk albums, fix for this is due in the next release however.

Last night 'local time', I discovered just how easy it is to set up stream ripping on this baby, it's great.

Thanks synic for the groovy player.

    Cheers.

I was actually approached by a forum admin about this early in this thread's life, but I never heard anything back from my reply. I got the message April 14th, and this is what it said:

It definitely deserves a sub-forum in the 3rd party section.

i now think that exaile is the best all-round general purpose music application for gnome. i've been having some trials of listen, exaile, rhythmbox, banshee, and quod libet, but i came to the following conclusions:
    a) listen is far too buggy. it crashed repeatedly whilst trying to access wikipedia, amongst other things.
    b) quod libet is less functional than exaile.
    c) rhythmbox, whilst good, is lacking
    d) banshee? ditto.

I was using this before I switched to MPD. Solid app and easy transition from Rhythmbox. Well done!

Does it support ReplayGain values written in Apev2 tags? This is the #1 feature i'm looking for in any audio player. Even better if you can also calculate RG for new files.

Bugger, never mind, I don't think that a project as good as this can continue to go unoticed.

    Keep up the excellent work.

    Cheers.

I am an artist. If you want a logo, let me know. I have some mouse pointers to finish up first, but I will have a bit of free time next week.

Also, I have not checked it out yet, but plan to. Can it rip CDs? I hate having sound juicer & something else on my machine. I'd rather have an all in one, you know?
