    pciehp problem

    Hi,

I've had this problem back in 9.10 and I was expecting that it would get fixed when I installed 10.10. Turns out it didn't, but it's starting to get really annoying and I can't find a simple solution to the problem.

Every time I boot my laptop (a Packard Bell) I get some error messages similar to these before the splash screen:
    Code:
pciehp 0000:00:1c.5:pcie04: Card not present on Slot(37)
pciehp 0000:00:1c.5:pcie04: Card present on Slot(37)
pciehp 0000:00:1c.5:pcie04: Link Training Error occurs
pciehp 0000:00:1c.5:pcie04: Failed to check link status
My computer works fine, but if I have to use Ctrl + Alt + F1, I get the last 2 lines of error messages to appear over and over and over again. I simply can't type anything.

I found a solution here but it involves recompiling the kernel and I don't have that kind of tech knowledge.
Does anyone know how to solve this? At least to stop the error messages from appearing over and over again, I must have the log files full of them and I can't type anything on the command line in case of my computer has a major crash.

    Thanks.

Try bumping your thread a few times a week, and also, you should give a bit more information about your HW. There are quite a few Packard Bell laptop's on the market. A description of cpu, chipset, graphics chipset etc, etc, would be nice. At least a full model name for the PB in question.
The thread should probable be in Hardware and Laptops.
Sorry I can't help you with your problem, but at least I gave you a bump.
    AMD Phenom II x6 2.8/3.3, 8 GB ram, GTX 550Ti 1024MB gfx, Xubuntu 13.10.
