Hold right-click and release to select in context menu

I am having issues with using the context menu without accidentally selecting one of the options by releasing right-click. In many programs, the context menu displays very close to the cursor, and in the span of a single click and release, I have selected the first option without intending to.

Is there any way to disable context menu selection by hold and release of right-click?

Re: Hold right-click and release to select in context menu

I'd love to know how to disable this across Gnome / X as well. When I'm using terminal and I right click in the terminal to access the context menu for copy / paste, half the time my mouse moves one pixel and selects the "Open Terminal" option which spawns a new terminal window. Maddening.

There's gotta be a place in Gnome or X that this can be disabled.
