    USB disk not detected

    hi,

I've got a USB disk that has been infected with a virus that deletes some necessary files so no the OS kernel doesn't detect it.
i tried "fdisk -l" and "Disk Utility" but it was no good, none of them detect it.
I think it's pretty stupid that a software trick can make a hardware device unusable. so there should be a solution.

    tnx in advance

If fdisk doesn't find it, it's a hardware problem.

Does your BIOS detect it ???

    haven't tested it yet.

No I'm 100% sure it's not due to physical damage or stuff. it happened when someone installed a virus on it, he said that it would make the flash disk unusable, because i said it won't!
that's how it happened. I'm sure he did it by using a software trick.

I've heard there are a few super protected files that hold the data about file system and stuff. I think what he did was deleting those files.

    has anyone any idea?
    it's a bit urgent.

No, Boot doesn't detect it too.
