The parameter pci=nocrs makes no difference in my case. My computer has an Intel 82852/82855 graphics chip.

    Hi all!

I have the same problem (same error log) and nomodset does not work for me either. I did not try any other kernel except the one that Ubuntu installed/offered me by default.

What's weird though is that live version boots up normally from usb stick.

I tried both to upgrade from 10.04 and to do a clean install. I also tried the latest drivers and latest xorg and had no luck with that. I finally had to do a clean install of 10.04

I tested all of this the day that 10.10 was out. Have not tried it recently.

Hi, i have the same problem with the i5 650 integrated graphics chipset, updated to 10.10 and X didn't start. Had to go back to 10.04, where everything works like a charm.

Yes, sorry I lost patience with this - it seems incredible that this was released with such a bug - I could understand it if this was some sort of exotic setup but a vanilla Intel Atom board..

I have gone back to 10.04 which actually works..

    Thanks

    Gavin
