no wizard in empathy

I did a minimal install, have lxde installed. I tried installing empathy with --no-install-recommends but for some reason it wouldn't let me add any accounts, so I purged it and did a full empathy install. same issue. any thoughts on if I am missing any programs? when I run it from the terminal I don't get any errors. thanks for any help

Can you add accounts with empathy - accounts - add acount?

I tried adding an account by going to Edit, and then Accounts. Nothing loads.
Pressing F4, nothing loads. typing empathy-accounts, nothing loads.
Going to System -> Preferences -> Messaging and VOIP accounts, nothing loads.
very odd. not getting any error messages.

I just booked up the Lubuntu live cd
(being the closest thing to lxde + ubuntu without reinstalling), installed empathy, same issue. unable to add accounts. very odd

also tried installing it with aptitude, incase that would make a difference, it didn't :S

Redownload the latest meverick version, burn on a CD, completely uninstall the empathy application and then reinstall again. Do a reboot and check whether its working. If not I'd be glad to see some error logs!
