Hi, while doing a reboot, I get these sorts of messages: "lost page write due to i/o error" and "reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4" because of my external backup hdd, which hung when copying files to it and I had to do a reboot. Now, is it safe to power cycle the computer and then do a fsck on the drive afterwards? Because going through all the retries takes a really long time it seems, and I don't know whether it's of any use to let it go through it at all. If the drive is damaged, trying to safely write to it must be a lost cause, so I would rather let it spend time on fsck and eventually saving some of the data.
What do you think?
