CPU Frequency Scaling applet in Unity?

Is there any way of running the CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor applet in the Unity-based Netbook Remix for Meerkat?

The Unity panel is not like the Gnome panel... you can't add any applets to it. You can't even right click it (nothing happens).

Thanks, but I'd already worked that out!

I should have been clearer: is there any other way of triggering the applet, like via a terminal command? I'm guessing not, since without a "normal" panel onscreen, there'd be nowhere for the applet to reside, yes?
