    Do you mean using Geographical Information System type tools, such as Mapinfo or ArcMap (in Windows)?
    If so I'm currently looking into similar software and have found GRASS in the repositories, which looks like it will do what I need. They have a wiki on their home page with user guides and the like.
    Hope that is of some help.

    GMT == Generic Mapping Tools
    GMT != GIS

    See http://gmt.soest.hawaii.edu/ for more on GMT.

    For the OP, I'd start with something like this: http://www.cas.usf.edu/~cconnor/gmt/...1/lesson1.html

    I've never used GMT, myself though it certainly makes nice output.

    I tried googling GMT and unsurprisingly got pages filled with the time. Cheers for the clarification.

    Hi,

    For geographical mapping, you can go for the GIS mapping software. This is the best and easiest way to locate your business. It is necessary in the today's world as the population has increased a lot to locate your business. With this software we can perform several works at a time and can combine the results to turn data from many sources into effective, actionable information.

    If you're just looking for a tutorial on GMT, the official one is quite useful.

    http://gmt.soest.hawaii.edu/gmt/doc/..._Tutorial.html

    Or do you mean something more specific to geology? What sort of data do you have?

    Re: Generic mapping tools in Geology (GMT)

    Since my last GMT-Update I get the messages Warning: PSL expects v 1.28 of /usr/local/bin/gmt/share/pslib/PSL_prologue.ps Warning: PSL expects v 1.15 of /usr/local/bin/gmt/share/pslib/PSL_label.ps when I running GMT. The latest version f.i. og PSL_prologue.ps is 1.27 in the same packaged I installed? Does anyone know how to get rid of this messages. Couls it cause some consequent problems?
