How to tunnel my Internet traffic?

How do I tunnel traffic through SSH on a Windoze client with PuTTY? Does this count as HTTPS (that protocol is blocked by my Android tethering app after an unspecified trial period ends and I'm a freshman and don't just happen to have $9.99 laying around so my only solution is to circumvent this)? Needs to be in plain English.

Easy. Use SOCKS proxy through putty.
