Wubi fails in WinXP

So I want Ubuntu in this Sony Vaio VGN-T150. Its CD drive is very old and can't boot. I have no other way of booting (no boot from USB), and therefore I install Wubi. My HTTP download speed is slow and therefore I use another computer to burn a CD with UNE. It fails with "cannot write to directory". I have administrator privileges and would like add a function to replace the aging, slow Windows.

If you are installing with wubi, what's the cd for? Just point wubi to the previously downloaded iso file. Hope that makes sense.
