Ubuntu stuttering when typing

Hey all,

Odd problem here. Whenever I type in ubuntu, it will be fine for a few seconds and then stutter. In other words, the display will keep up for a few seconds, then freeze for a moment while it shows no changes only then all at once everything I've typed will show up. It happens in this pattern repeatedly every 5 seconds or so and it is just super annoying.

Doesn't seem to affect video playback or anything - just text input.

I'm running Maverick atm... I've looked for renegade processes eating CPU or w/e, but found nothing out of order.

Any ideas? Any help would be majorly appreciated!

I should also say that it also seems to affect games like Urban Terror or quake live. Everything will freeze, and then start up again.

Did some digging... Seems to be related to this problem:

Hope this helps anyone who may be experiencing the same thing. I have yet to find a solution, but it does seem to be a genuine bug.
