10.04.1 not detecting partitions
Ok so I just finished building my new pc and installed Windows XP 32-bit and have quite a bit of stuff set up on it right now. I've been dual booting XP and Linux for a year or 2 now and I'm trying to install using a live USB. My problem is that when i go to install Ubuntu and the installation gets to the hard drive installer where it asks where to install Ubuntu it detects nothing. nada. zilch. No partitions, no other os's, even though ive split my HD into 2 partitions each 500GB the 1st 500 being devoted to XP and the other to save for later for this. My guess for the problem is that the partitions were formatted to fat32 or ntfs but that's just me.
I really want to fix this so I'm not stuck on Windows all the time.
PS the hard drive is SATA if it helps
