    It is possible that you are experiencing freezes related to this Nouveau bug. If you have Nvidia hardware but wish to use Nouveau, please try adding nouveau.noaccel=1 to your boot options as mentioned in that bug report.

    I don't know??? I certainly do not run anything in cmd line (unless told to). I use Ubuntu Tweak to do my fine tuning since I discovered it. Brilliant for noddies like me. If you can tell me what to look for or make some suggestions I could feed back.

    Having the same periodic freezing problem on a fresh install of Maverick.

    AMD64, Nvidia card, with drivers downloaded from nvidia.com. Problem didn't exist in Lucid.
