    Installed program runs in terminal

    Still Learning-
Earlier I downloaded QCAD to my 'Downloads' folder. I learned how to download and install a tar.gz for QCAD 2.2.2.0 demo. Now when I enter the following:
cd /home/howard/Downloads/qcad-2.2.2.0-1-demo.linux.x86 and then ./qcad_demo (executable)
QCAD opens and runs but from the Terminal. It runs very slow compared to the 2.0 version that came with Ubuntu 10.04. Of course closing the terminal also closes QCAD. It doesn't show up in the Ubuntu Software Center or Synaptic Manager either - but the previous version does.

How do I get the new QCAD installed or moved to the correct directory?

Don't knwo if this will be of your interest, but you can make programs run from the terminal stay opened after closing it. The terminal command should be for example "epiphany &". Once it's launched, closing the terminal still leaves the application running.
    Hope this helps...
