WOW! I have Compiz on my netbook!!!!

So, I got this new job as a salesman and being on the road i needed a netbook. I got this acer aspire one for my wife (she is pregnant and it was my present to her for the pregnancy!). It has an intel atom n270 (1,6GHz, 533 MHz FSB) with 1gb mem and 250GB disk. The first thing i did was to do a complete install of the latest netbook remix and get rid of windows 7 starter that had on. I had it with me at work for a couple of weeks now and i am really happy both with the hardware and definitely with ubuntu (all my other machines, including my 20' Imac have ubuntu only), but i never tried compiz cause i thought it would be heavy on it. Well after watching a video in youtube i thought i'd give it a try and i was pleasantly surprised to see compiz work perfectly!!!! I even got a couple of sales from it by leaving my client in awe with my awesome computer, hahhaha!!!!!! Anyway thanks everyone in Canonical and in forums for this trully great software...

I don't use desktop effects, but it's also disappointing when you can't have them either

I started working on a new project that required that I travel often. I went on the first trip with my laptop, and soon realized that I needed a netbook. The laptop is heavy to carry everywhere, and less convenient when going through security at the airport.

I maintain my wife's 8" netbook. I found the keyboard and screen to be a PITA. I bought a 10.1" netbook with an ATOM N455 dual threaded processor. I like it. Works like a dual core for most applications. The keyboard is reasonable; however, I would like the TAB, Caps Lock, and shift keys to be a little bigger.

My wife can't wait until I start a new project that doesn't require travel. It isn't that she misses me, it is that she wants the netbook.

Use whatever OS or desktop works for you. Backup your computer regularly, and definitely before upgrading or partitioning.
