I recently picked up one of these fine gaming laptops from newegg for a steal and know that it's setup is a little weird...
It has 2 hard drives (I added a second one recently). The weirdness comes with the fact that it uses a strange bios (to me) that it with one power button starts with splashtop (a light linux distro for browsing the web and messaging through skype/pidgin, and also plays music on your hard drive). It also has a fancy boot thing in the bios for loading up pretty pictures and sounds instead of the normal POST screen.
The thing that I am asking is, if I install ubuntu, will it break the asus fancy boot and/or the splashtop os feature? I would prefer an answer from an owner of the g series asus gaming laptops (also known as a republic of gamers brand). Perhaps eeepc's have the same features, I dunno, this is my first asus.
