    Lenovo Ideapad U450 HDAPS

Good day, As the title suggests I am using an Ideapad U450 and would like to try and get the HD Active Protection System working. After looking in to both HDAPS and TP-SMAPI, so far my efforts have been fruitless.

This is down to the fact that the Ideapads use a completely different set of system hooks when interfacing with the hardware, I know it works fine under Windows 7 just fine as that was pre-installed and continues to work. My question with this post falls under two categories:

    - Has anyone already successfully got HDAPS working under (x)Ubuntu 10.04?
    - If I want to help on development, (so this range of laptops can gain support) can anyone recommend some "hardware snooping" software for Windows that would allow me to extract the neccessary parameters?

I am a web developer by nature but, have been around computers for over 15 years; building, poking and tweaking. I would pick up any extra skill set if needs be for this task as, I am very much in love with Linux and would like to get the best out of this new laptop both.

    Kind Regards
    Sim
