Question Best [Quality] audio player ?!

Hey guys, I thought I ask your opinion on some audio players that actually sound good. I tried most of them out there: Rhythmbox, Banshee, Amarok, vlc, u name it. None are bad, don't get me wrong. But I'm kinda looking for something a little more professional. On windows I use foobar2000 which is actually awesome. It has 17 band equalizer, replay gain support, support for all kinds of formats... I just need a good replacement for it on my ubuntu. (that being said, I've tried to run foobar with wine, no results).

Anyway, Having some suggestions on quality audio players would be nice. btw, interface, showing lyrics, last.fm stuff, artwork, etc all falls into second priority. As the overal quality and a nice eq would be first!

Foobar is professinal, now thats a relative term, most who use Windows finds it minimalistic at best, most Linux players like Rhythmbox, Banshee are way more full featured, if you want audio effects, VLC has all beat, has eq as well as spatial eq and more.

Well, for foobar, minimalistic it is. If you're talking in terms of memory consumption it takes about 25mg while playing. Much much less than the renowned itunes.

Anyway, tanx. I give vlc a shot for audio again. didn't fiddle around with it too much, as I thought it's more of a video playing software.
    Cheerz.
