EW-7711UTn connection problems (Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS)

Just started using Ubuntu tonight, but I'm having problem getting my Edimax EW-7711UTn to work (I'm stuck with using the ethernet cable for now). The light flashes on it and it picks up wireless networks, but when I'm connecting to them, I put in the key, it tries to connect, but the wireless key window pops up again and again and again. I've looked up other threads about this, but none of the suggested methods have worked for me (I've checked to see if it's compatible, apparently it isn't, but people seem to have got it working before...) I'm using a Toshiba Satellite M40 laptop.

    Re: EW-7711UTn connection problems

I was wondering if you got it working now. Because I have the same problem with my ew-7711 usn.
In the beginning it didn't detect any networks. After blacklisting rt2800usb it did detected some networks, but when I try to connect to a secured network it keeps asking me for the wpa key. And I'm not sitting on a dead spot or something because in windows it works just fine.

    Re: EW-7711UTn connection problems

I'm guilty of not actually reading the pop-up window. I kept entering my WPA key, but Ubuntu really just wanted my default keyring password.

As a separate gripe. My ew-7711usn will NOT hold a steady connection. Good for surfing, but terrible dor downloading or streaming media.

    Re: EW-7711UTn connection problems

    try this link

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ha...orkCardsEdimax

Follow the instructions, you need to run the "make" from the downloaded file directory within a Terminal window.

This worked for me and I have an EW-7711 UTn
