Registering a Domain, who to go with?

I don't know much about domain hosting. But my IT teacher uses 1&1 and must like it, otherwise he'd be using something else. I can't say what most services do. But with 1&1 you don't actually have your own IP address. They use virtual hosting.

Since i dont have a web server yet, i'll have to get hosting too i guess.

I've used domain.com for registering domain names. They also do hosting.

Whys there a fuss made of the .co addresses?

All the registrars have them advertised as having them now and they are way more expensive than .coms etc..

They are brand new. .com is an old TLD, as it .net and .org. New stuff is always going to be more expensive.

Domain Monster - we use them for commercial purposes, and I use them for personal use, very very good and also offers full DNS control if needed.

Do they do hosting too?
