Looking for modern QUAKE 2 client

Ive been scouring the internets and searching google for a modern QUAKE 2 client so my buddies and I can shoot 'em up. Saddly I've had a lot of trouble finding anything of use. Most information is from a LONG time ago.

All the clients i've tried do not support a dual monitor setup and stretch the game across multiple monitors. Which makes it unplayable.

any suggestions or hints on where to look ?

    http://egl.quakedev.com/

    https://sourceforge.net/projects/l33t/

Not sure if they support what you need though.

Re: Looking for modern QUAKE 2 client

AS of right now I can't get EGL to compile under 10.04, but I am running the windows version under wine. I'd LOVE a Linux compile of EGL though. There doesn't seem to be one out on the internets.

    and l33t seems to be a quake3 port. I'm looking for Quake2.

Thanks for the post though, appreciate it.

Well what I ment to link to is Qfusion, which is based on Q2, but I am not sure if that engine even still runs normal quake2.

Doesn't look like it supports q2 anymore. I tried compiling it anyway to see what it's about but had no luck It gets all kinds of errors and then peters out.

No biggie though, I'll keep looking for my holy grail.

It never did, Qfusion was always meant to run Q3 data under the Q2 engine.

Right now the more bleeding edge Q2 engines that are currently under development are Berzerker, and Quake2XP. Not sure if they support what this guy is looking for though.

    Berzerker - http://berserker.quakegate.ru/ - some more recent screens here - http://www.quakedev.com/forums/index.php?topic=1633.60

Quake2XP - Their site appears to be down.

I should add, I don't know if either has native linux binaries.

Re: Looking for modern QUAKE 2 client

I got the urge to play some Quake2 a few days ago myself. Tried the Debian Etch deb packages that Daniel has on the Yamagi.org site. They threw a segmentation fault when I tried to run them on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid.

Easy fix. Just recompiled source files provided against Lucid libs and it works great.
