Problem with Lucid and Acer Aspire 5730Z - White screen

I have a Acer Aspire 5730Z laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid".
It has a constat problem involving the screen becoming either blank white or "Glitched white" (weird lines or flickering screen along with a white background), all of a sudden or after i close and reopen the lid.

I've seen a similar problem with older models of acer laptops, an issue that's known as the "White screen of death", here's a video of it:

This problem appeared to be caused by a hardware problem, however i noticed that with my laptop the white screen appears frequently only when i use ubuntu; while using windows the white screen appears almost rarely.

The laptop is using a Mobile Intel 4500 Video Card, so far i couldn't find any alternative driver for it.

If anyone has an idea, please help.
