Trying to install last realplayer11 gold

    Hallo,

I want to install realplayer11 gold from the deb package in http://www.real.com/realplayer/linux since the real player I have in karmic koala is RealPlayer 11.0.0.4028 (GOLD) (from medibuntu) and cannot play certain ram audio as http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/le...stol_audio.ram, the error says that it is required component 28_8, and addresses me to the deb package in http://www.real.com/realplayer/linux.

I download the software and when i try to install it with gdebi, the installation is interrupted with "error dependency not satisfied" libasond2 >> 1.0.22. Is there any safe way to obtain this library for karmic koala?, I have libasound2 1.0.20.

Or any workaround for playing the forementioned audio?

    Thanks in advance

Re: Trying to install last realplayer11 gold

I am going to ask my question in another way, perhaps I will have more luck now.

I want to listen to this "http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish/multimedia/btp/ram_files/bristol_audio.ram" audio, my realplayer says that it cannot play it because it hasn't the real audio codec 28_8 ¿¿¿???. I don't know how to install this codec or to install last real audio player because there are not satisfied dependencies.

I try to play with vlc, and this player can play the audio, but the pause button (or space bar or any hotkey I define for pause) doesn't work, so I cannot stop the audio in one point and continue the playing from this point.

So, what I can do is:

To find a player capable of playing the forementioned .ram streaming, is there any?

Trying to install the real audio 28_8 codec for my realplayer, could someone tell me how?

Fixing the pause button in vlc in order to pause and play the audio in any time, is there any workaround for it?

Any idea about these questions is very welcome

I realize this is an old thread but I wanted to put my two cents in...

I went here and downloaded the i386 version (32bit) for my Ubuntu 12.04 install.

Opened it with Ubuntu Software Center and installed it.

    Cheers!
