Wireless disabled in Dell Latitude D830

I have had a problem with wireless card for a few days now it will not connect at all to any network. When ubuntu is running with windows running no problem. Help please.

Using 14.10 and the default Intel wifi card it all worked in first attempt.

is it a proprietary wireless card?
if so is it a broadcom one?

go system>administration>hardware drivers and click "activate" (it should work if you have wired connection, if not, try it in live CD)
