    Detecting external monitor in VectorLinux?

Being extremely happy with Mint and now a Linux fan, I just put VectorLinux onto my husbands old laptop. It is old and clunky and really needed a lightweight OS. The only thing we use it for is watching movies. In Windows he was able to hook it up to the TV and toggle the display.

The TV is plugged in now, and Linux doesn't appear to be detecting that. I'm not sure how to configure it so we can have the display on the TV. Thanks very much!

Edit: Sorry if this is the completely wrong place for a question about this distro. I just had such good luck with this community for my own troubleshooting.
