Is there a linux compatible program for tracking a stolen laptop?
I tried Prey, but I can't get it installed and working. Something that works for the non-uber geek?

You can try a non-software (but very effective) solution. It involves having a metal "sticker" attached to the lid of your laptop. It has a serial number and a number to report the found laptop. Beneath, it has a tattoo, so if someone removed the "sticker" which is really hard to remove, the police would know it was stolen. However, it does look tacky, though. It's called "STOP" (Stop Theft of Office Property").
