Yeah, like I'm going to let my money go through the makers of pirate bay.

Do it through a legit company like paypal and I would consider it, but I don't do business with questionabe entities.

Lots more where those came from.

Not that I think your concern is misplaced, but PayPal is a TERRIFYING company with an actual history of acting nasty. (And they can because they aren't regulated and they seem to have killed their competition).

Flattr does use external payment services (PayPal included), so as I understand it their control over your funds is pretty limited. Besides, they have a good business model here. Do you really think they would throw it away by abusing people's trust?

I don't know if flattr itself is the best option but I think it would be great to have micro-payment options for developers. I have thought integrating something like that into the ubuntu software store would be an excellent idea. Sure you can purchase commercial proprietary apps, but you could also support your favorite FOSS project as well!

As long as the money goes to the original upstream developers and not "Ubuntu developers".

What do you think about services like Flattr? Have you considered integrating something like that into the Ubuntu Software Center?

Seems like this thread/brainstorm-idea made it a cross the internet after all!

    Well, seems so.

I did not see any further articles on it though.

Let's hope OMG and others grab up the topic now that the godfather itself made a statement.

Might not be Flattr. But it seems micro-donations/donations of any kind will be implemented by 11.04! AZM!
