I'm using Ubuntu as my main OS on my main PC but I still have some Windows kit around, including a 1tb NTFS drive on my main PC. This is visible just fine from both Ubuntu and Windows as a VM on that box, as well as from Ubuntu and Windows laptops.

What's odd though is that when I write to it from Ubuntu, sometimes the folder names are wrong when I look at them from Windows. I can go into the directory and the files are fine, from both OSes - there's no suggestion of corruption here. But it makes it impossible to find stuff. Filenames never seem to be affected, just folder names.

What am I - rather, default Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit - doing wrong, and how do I fix it?
