    Why do they do that?

    Reading the forums at Vuze/Azureus makes me wonder why Ubuntu modifies the vuze package to a point that breaks it? Does Ubuntu hate Vuze/Azureus?

    Even now, if you install vuze from the ubuntu repositories, you still get the same issues. You still need to install vuze from Vuze if you want an install that isn't borked....

    I find it puzzling that Ubuntu (Cononical) would cripple an application package and then include it in their repository. They may as well not include the package at all... Why do they do that?

    I use Vuze. Mine's not broken... yet... how would I know?

    Did you install vuze from the Ubuntu repositories, or from the Vuze website?

    Anybody here with an idea for why the vuze package in the Ubuntu repository is modified to the point that it's incompatible with the developer's version?
