    Talking Small Linux OS

    Hi All,
I have an older computer that I wish to set up in the wedding room of my Moms florist shop, however it has a small hard drive and I have no replacement for it. I am looking for a small Linux OS that is also compatible with the Belkin F6D4050 USB wireless card (NOT the F5 one). If there is one that you know of or even think you might work, PLEASE let me know!!!

    Thank You in Advance ,
    Aydee

    How big is the HDD?

I doubt that it is too small to hold DSL (Damn Small Linux). Check it out here

Puppy, Tiny Core, Slitaz : any of those 3 might suit your needs.

"Older computer" means different things to different people (I fondly remember my TI-99-4A) so post the hardware specs if you would like a specific recommendation.

Here are the hardware requirements for Ubuntu and its lightweight cousin Xubuntu: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/In...emRequirements

If it won't even run Xubuntu then you can try something even smaller like Puppy.

Xubuntu really isn't that small... It is hardly smaller than Ubuntu and is actually proven to be slower. But besides that i fully agree. Lubuntu, Puppy, DSL are all good distros for trying out.

PS From what I've seen although I didn't loook the usb wireless card should work in most linux distros just fine

I wish that were so, I have tried Puppy, Pepper Mint & Dreamlinux and it diddn't work in any of them, even using ndisgtk, The Wrong (and only) Belkin drivers!

BTW, If any of you have any pointers in this direction that would be helpful...

Puppy would be perfect. I don't know anything about your specific wireless card, but Puppy usually has pretty good hardware support. (edit, just read your post above, sorry )

Puppy or dsl... I wouldn't try to run lubuntu on it. You will not be able to use it for much more than getting on the internet
