Power management - Laptop lid close actions

I *think* I have a problem with my laptop thinking that its lid is closed when it really isn't. Is there a way to tell Ubuntu to leave the screen on normally even if it thinks the lid is closed? I looked in the Power Management Preferences and that doesn't seem to be an option.

I am using Lucid, I just haven't updated my profile here I am aware of the the power management preferences, but there is no option there to leave the screen on even when the laptop is closed

For instance, in the screenshot you attached, you have "When laptop lid is closed" set to "Blank screen". I'd like to have it set to "Do nothing" or something similar.

Hola -- was just searching for the same answer (I'd found it a couple months ago, but needed to re-do). Here's how to set the laptop lid close to "do nothing." Follow the instructions in post #1, and that will handle it.

    Cheers!
