    Thanks, IShurtugal

Also, I want a standalone program, not a compiz addon. I tried that and it didn't work, as my computer has a CRAPPY graphics card.

There is gromit in the repository (at least in Karmic). I cannot find it in the menus, so I start it from the command line. After starting it, switch drawing on/off with the Pause key. Clear drawings with Shift-Pause. I don't know if one can change color. And it draws too much artifacts on my system. Maybe you have better luck. Or maybe it isn't good enough.

gromit would be an awesome program if it didn't lag 5 seconds behind my mouse.....
Mabey i should look at compiz again, but i hate all the effects....

i need to draw OVER my screen, not on a blank file or in an image editor, Compiz works, but I'd like to have something that allows me to draw a strait line using a key combination.

So I guess drawing on your screen with fire would be out of the question.

    Seriously just install CCSM "compizconfig-settings-manager"
and you can turn off all the effects except the one(s) you want.

Edit: How in the world anyone can use a OS without "Wobbly Windows" is beyond my comprehension. Lol's
