Ubuntu resolution changes when close/open lid

    Hello there

I'm having some strange issues with my HP Probook. The resolution changes (lower) after I close and open the lid again. Only a restart will fix this problem... any ideas? Sometimes happens even when I normally turn the computer on, only a restart will fix it...

I have this problem occasionally with my Lenovo T500 with 10.04 (64-bit). I'm able to fix the resolution System->Preferences->Monitors.

This never happens on my Compaq cq60-215dx with 10.04 (32-bit).

It happens on my HP Probook 4410s.

The screen falls back to lower resolution whenever the lid is opened.

This happens on my Dell Latitude E5500; not every time, but reasonably often. I can fix it with Monitor Preferences, but it's a pain to have to do that so often.

It also sometimes happens when I push the laptop's hardware volume control buttons.
