On Facebook I saw an ad for a survey for System Administrators, where you could win an HTC smartphone.
What I found really cool is that, to try and ensure that ONLY sysadmins do the survey, the survey is actually conducted through Telnet. Of course, Linux user here, I guessed how to start a Telnet connection to the address specified. But the gimmick was pretty cool.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.

Pretty much most techies and oldschool interwebs users know how to use telnet, so that's a bit flawed.
