USB mouse only works on boot,

My USB mouse will only work when it's connected before boot. When it's connected after login, it will not work. The Synaptics Touchpad always works when the USB mouse is connected or not.

A lsusb command shows it as:

Bus 003 Device 002 ID 046d:c03d Logitech, Inc. M-Bt96a Pilot Optical Mouse

    Ubuntu 9.10

Any news about this?. I noted this also happens with USB external media, like memory sticks and hd.

Re: USB mouse only works on boot,

this is happening to me with an asus g73jw i7 8GBRAM and lots of disk. I think the problem is with ubuntu or a hardware failure perhaps. It works some times only and after i wait a ton of time and randomly replug and suddently it works.

    Anyone with an answer?

I have fixed it, I think is just the sensor needs a bit of manipulation. The optical sensor seems to be turning off because of some dust or bad adjustment, once lined up it should work.
