Recommended External HD

Hello,
I have been looking for a external hard drive that I can use with my Ubuntu Dell 530N system. I saw that many of the external hard drives require Windows as their base, but there were some that were easy to use with any operating system.
This one seemed okay for me because I needed one that would have 1 TB of external space. Is there anyone out there who knows a better deal that could be used with Ubuntu. I am most likely to buy a 1tb drive.

Hey, the Western digitals extern hard drives works perfectly, i have tried two of them(both 1 TB) and both works as it should, i own one of them which is called "WD Elements" or something, anyway those works like they should. (i had one 300 GB maxtor for some years back ago, and it recuired stupid software to work, and i didn't get to ever use it... waste of money...)

I have several kinds of USB drives and they all work fine. That Elements drive works great (I have the 2 TB model). Some of the WD drives have some sort of program (called smartware) that is darn near impossible to remove and it sets up a virtual drive in windows and linux, but they still work ok. The elements drive I have has no software that installs.

i have, and can confirm the following brands will work with ubuntu, lacie, buffalo, cavalry, hp simplesave, wd.
