Laptop INCOMPATIBILITY List.

the gat2eway LT2802u (it is a rebranded ACER laptop)
10.4 LTS
no sounds, no microphone.... no network menu... reverting to what worked with wubi.

this is the atom n455, it worked very well w 9.04 off the box, audio, microphone (needed to select different hardware), skype worked, dimming almost worked, skype worked, wireless worked

I installed 11.10 64 bit on 9/15 and it fixed the problem of the no touchpad tab and now the scrolling works. I now need to find that bug report and fix the dimming issue. I hope this helps others...Larry

Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit

Installation works OK to start with, but freezes on shutdown (from the very first restart). Only solution is to hold power button to turn off.
Will start up OK, but restricted driver for ATI graphics card cannot be installed without freezing OS entirely (will not shut down; will not boot up properly).
Mouse trackpad did not work properly on 1st Ubuntu install; did work on 2nd Ubuntu install - no idea why.
Everything else seems to be OK...perhaps all the problems are down to the graphics cards?
Fingerprint reader doesn't work, either. But I didn't really expect it to.
Naturally it all works out of the box with Windows 7, but it was designed with that in mind (closed drivers etc.)

4) Issue: There are no sound, graphic card, HD webcam and finger print reader drivers.

Same laptop running ubuntu 11.04 same issues for me too.
Fixed sound by updating the kernel, moving to kernel 3.1 rc 4 fixed webcam
Video drivers still an issue, even in normal desktop use. Using http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu made the it more usable and videos are working better still not much on 3d though

Also, the first line in the output of the kernel boot says

BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000010

I can get it to boot by disabling nouveau. When ubuntu install cd/iso is booting, hit ESC and go to the boot options.

hit F6 to alter the boot options and add
nouveau.modeset=0 to the end of the boot options line and then hit enter

This disables nouveau from being modprobed at boot up.
