    ASUS R500A...

I complete and total fail... UEFI seems to be the culprit.

    = = =
EDIT: As can be seen in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2119033 the complete and total fail was using a 32 bit ISO. The 64 bit seems to install without problems. / Mörgæs

Intel VESA is recognized instead Intel GMA 360. Resolution was fixed at 800x600 pixels.

Netrunner 12.12.1 installs fine on N102s-B04. Correct resolution. All other functions work. The KDE effects, however always defaults to XRender, yet is stable.

The other distros tried, Kubuntu 12.10-64, Mint 14-64 Live CDs didn't boot.

    Hi,

I have HP 1000 - i3-2370M notebook. I tried to install ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10 but non of them gets installed. I have some success with 13.04 beta version.

Actually when i try to boot from Ubuntu, it starts but after few second screen become black and nothing happens. Then i tried with External LCD then i was able to see ubuntu and it helped me to install Ubuntu. Once i installed Both Laptop LCD and External LCD show me desktop and i can work fine but when i remove external LCD and reboot Notebook then again it stuck on Black Screen even ubuntu is installed and if again i add external LCD then i can work on ubuntu.. But this process only work with 13.04 beta. 12.04 or 12.10. Does not work in any way. I tested 64 bit ubuntu.

If have window 7 and tried to install ubuntu then i download ubuntu but when it extract then it give some error and install does not install anything.

Please look into this laptop and try to add in upcoming ubuntu 13.04. So i can use ubuntu.

    HP Envy 15 (2nd gen) 3040nr:
I would say anything HP Envy of all 3 gens will have the same issues.
I've tried Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Arch, Opensuse 12.2, Fedora 17, Linux Mint 13, and so on.
The touchpad (synaptics clickpad) completely lacks functionality. If you keep a finger on the lower part, for eg, and try dragging to move the mouse this cannot be done. There isn't true multitouch. This makes the touchpad completely unsuable. It's extremely awkward.
Hybrid graphics is absolutely horrendous on Linux.
Beats audio on any device creates HUGE issues. The laptop will lock up for like 10 minutes after boot. This needs to be addressed. This really makes the laptop unusable.
Finally, the backlight does not automatically brighten at boot. It stays dim.
I notified the synaptics upstream developers, and they said that there's nothing that they can do.

    Toshiba Satellite C660-15
    Ubuntu 13.04

As far as I can tell everything works fine, apparently the Battery can only charge to 30% Capacity, but other than that everything is fine. Can't install intel Graphics driver Installer on 13.04, but was unable to install the intel drivers on 12.10 only the installer would install.

    1. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
    2. HP
    3. Pavilion DV6 3122-SA
    4. Open source graphics driver for ATI Mobility Radeon 5470 causes laptop to overheat, proprietary driver is incompatible with GNOME for some reason so the desktop won't appear when it is enabled. KDE & Proprietary driver combination works fine (i.e. install Kubuntu, then install proprietary driver )

Mörgæs 2014-10-13: Later releases (14.04 and newer) are more suitable for the dv6, especially when using the radeon.dpm=1 boot option:

    Exclamation Re: Laptop INCOMPATIBILITY List.

    OS Ver: 12.04/12.10/13.04 Ubuntu Desktop/Server/Studio/Gnome
    Maker: Sony
    Model: VIAO VPCZ1 [vpcz11cgx/x]
    Issue: Dual Graphics-Card & SD/MS Slots

Defaults to the integrated graphics card, additional driver application can see the stand-alone nvidia driver but bugs when install'd, tried switching hardware switch between all 3 settings (stamina (aka integrated), speed (aka stand alone nvidia), and auto with no difference.)

SD + Memory Stick slots do not show in any of the distro's or additional driver application.

    Thanx

Do not work at all, the driver fior the graphic card is not anymore supported by the Kernel, if I understand well. 12.04LTS is working.
