1)Version Of Ubuntu: 12.04
2)Laptop Maker: ACER
3)Laptop Model: Aspire V5 -171
4)Known Issue: Broadcomm SD card reader won't mount SD cards. Synaptic PS/2 touch pad won't allow drag and drop.
1)Version Of Ubuntu --> Ubuntu 12.04 64bit (kernel 3.2.0-29)
2)Laptop Maker --> Asus
3)Laptop Model --> X54C-261D (15.6", i3-2330, 2+2GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Wifi AR9285, Ethernet AR8151)
4)Known Issue:
Bluetooth almost never worked with Ubuntu, (while it did with Knoppix, Slax, even Lubuntu).
Workaround: blacklisted asus_nb_wmi, due to which, asus_wmi also stopped being loaded.
Side-Effects: Although the BT now works perfectly, Fn+ combination key functions for volume control, mute, and touchpad enable/disable don't work now (due to absence of asus_nb_wmi). All other Fn+ combos work as usual.
Apart from this, the laptop is working great with 12.04, no additional tuning required. (oh, except that it sometimes fails to bring back the desktop after resuming from sleep, tty1 to 6 work though - a common issue I guess )
Version 12.04
Acer

Won't load livecd.... stuck at the dots screen.
1) Desktop 12.04
2) HP
3) Pavilion DV8000
known bugs :
- Frequent freezes.
- Wifi driver issue after updtate, can't connect to secured wifi. Won't ask the security key.
- Desktop issues, such as sidebar not loading properly or taskbar invisible/black.
- And last but not least, because of the freezes, hard reset has to be done which is known to be a source of problems with the Pavilion DV*000 serie. It may damage the motherboard, RAM and CPU. It may as well even prevent you from booting your laptop due to residual power to RAM and/of motherboard. (which is my case, I'm currently struggling to boot my computer)
The trackpoint pointing device (Lenovo Thinkpad L430) doesn't work with Ubuntu 12.04.
1)Version Of Ubuntu: Precise 12.04
2)Laptop Maker: Samsung
3)Laptop Model: Samsung N102-B05
4)Known Issue: Intel GMA
Intel VESA is recognized instead Intel GMA 360. Resolution was fixed at 800x600 pixels.
I have a eMachine em250 netbook and trying to get Lubuntu 12.04 wireless to work because of power.
What's funny is that Ubuntu works fine on my machine. I removed the hard drive and installed it in my wife's em250 and it works fine. I must have a different chipset. I tried to install Broadcom b43 but it says to install another but I cant remember which one...it doesn't work. Here is another net mystery...when I plug in a cable browsers cant access the internet. I can go to other computers on my home net. The software center works though. I am able to update and to download other browsers. Any ideas?
